The Auditor calculates tax rates for all taxing entities in the county (schools, cities, townships, etc.) by applying taxes levied by those entities to the valuation for each property as determined by the Assessor.
Notice of Public Hearing – Proposed Property Tax Levy
Thank you for inquiring about the taxpayer information statement you received in the mail. This is a new communication from Guthrie County as required under new State of Iowa legislation. The purpose of the mailing is to give you an estimate of the impact of proposed tax levy rates on your property for fiscal year 2025 which starts on July 1, 2024. It also informs you of the public hearings where you may voice questions, comments and concerns for specific tax levies. The public hearing for Guthrie County is scheduled for 7:00 pm on Monday, April 1st. Questions may be directed to the Board of Supervisors at that time.
